Branch Recognizes SMU Cheerleaders and Dance Team April 2008 Rep. Dan Branch visited the Southern Methodist University campus to congratulate the SMU Cheerleading and Dance teams on their recent national championship performances. The Mustang Dance team won their second national championship in three years in the National Dance Alliance Open Division I, while the cheerleaders finished as national champion runners-up in the National Cheerleaders Association Small Co-Ed Division I. Branch presented SMU Spirit Coordinator Zac Brannon with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol and a commemorative certificate, and presented each student athlete with a personalized congratulatory letter. Branch congratulates members of the SMU Cheer and Dance teams on their performance. The Mustangs finished just .03 points behind the University of Louisville, taking second place in their highly competitive division.
