Perry signs Branch's e-textbooks bill

As we foreshadowed in this post, Gov. Rick Perry has signed Dallas Republican Rep. Dan Branch's e-textbooks bill, according to the legislative reporting service Telicon.

The measure by Branch (right) encourages school districts to make greater use of online educational materials and classroom technology. But some social conservatives wanted Perry to veto it, calling it an infringement on the powers of the conservative-dominated State Board of Education.
