Several Big 12 Schools Meet With Pac-10

June 14, 2010

Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott went on a come-join-us mission across Texas and Oklahoma over the weekend.

Colorado and Nebraska have already left the rapidly disintegrating Big 12.

University of Texas system regents meet tomorrow to discuss UT's place in the conference tilt-a-whirl that started with Colorado's defection to the Pac-10 last week.

If Texas heads west, then Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M could also leave the Big 12.

Meanwhile, state Rep. Dan Branch of Dallas, who chairs the Texas House Higher Education Committee, says he's confident the governing boards of UT, Tech and A&M will wait until after a legislative hearing Wednesday to decide the future of their athletic programs.

Branch told the Austin American-Statesman that he's confident the schools won't take any final action before the Wednesday hearing.
